This book is an account of the remarkable life and career of Eugene Braunwald. It might also be described as a history of cardiology in the twentieth century, such is the range and scope of Braunwald's work. It is easy to think of such highly successful people as lucky recipients of gifts denied to the rest of us. Indeed, Braunwald is a first-rate intellect, however this is rarely sufficient for success. This book documents the sheer hard work that Braunwald expended to make his remarkable list of accomplishments.
